None Fell to the Ground

"So Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground." (1 Sam 3:19)

None of his words fell to the ground. Nada, zilch, zero.....This reminds me of Jesus and everything that we have recorded; He lived to do the work of Father God. Everything He said and did either came to pass or is in the process of coming to pass (end of time).

What are we living for? Do our words fall to the ground?

Are we close to God? Do we seek Him and do what He whispers to our hearts?

What if we are judged by our words?

Out of the abundance of the heart your mouth speaks.

What is in our hearts?

What consumes us and our very being?

What do we dwell upon?

Are we dwelling with Him (John 15)?

A Heart Like God's

(1 Samuel chapter one.)
Hannah heard the priest’s words to her, she believed it and left believing God would answer her prayer. She prayed earnestly, left it at His feet for Him to decide what to do with it and He did in time.

This more than likely the wasn’t the first time Hannah had been provoked by the other wife. Also,  I do not think polygamy was not approved or condoned by God, otherwise he would have made Adam two wives, right?  It was a cultural thing.  We know that when we spend time with God our hearts are changed.

This probably happened to Hannah as well. Instead of crying, “God, please bless me with a son to give my husband.” Her heart became tuned into God’s heart and she cried out His desire, “Give your servant a son and I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life…” She not only prayed this, but kept her promise to God. Oh, the plans that God had for Samuel! He knew him before he was born and He knew each of us before we were born. In fact He let us be born at such a time as this! Oh, the plans He has for us –if we listen and obey!

I am seeing that the more time I spend with God, the less I really want of the things of this world and the more I want to please Him.

Today I was reminded that God desires our obedience and He desires us to draw nearer to Him through prayer. By doing this we can know Him, His plans  and thoughts that He shares with us as well as share His love with others.

During worship God asked me to pray for “the church” and I did without hesitation. Later as I bowed in prayer at the altar, He told me to do something. It was simple, but I didn’t want to do it because I felt that it is a hard thing for me to do, perhaps it was pride and worrying about what others would think. Regardless, I told Him, “I don’t want to.” I wonder if He laughed at me. Did I look like a stubborn two year old or a fifteen year old with my arms crossed and pouting at what He said? I do know that He lovingly and patiently told me again what to do. Looking back I asked myself, “How could I say no, to my God and my Savior? Who am I to say no after all He has done for me ? How could I ever NOT do what He tells me to do?”!? The fact of the matter is, I simply cannot disobey without feeling like I’ve betrayed His love for me. I know that His ways are not my ways. I also know that I love Him and I will follow and obey Him –even if it isn’t comfortable and not what I initially want to do. The reward of obedience far out way my disobedience. After I did what He told me, I found myself overwhelmed with His love for me; it was more than worth it and will always be more than worth it.
I will leave you with this song that they played during alter time today:

Simple pursuit.....

[Verse 1]
God take us back, the place we began
The simple pursuit of nothing but You
The innocence of a heart in Your hands
God take us back, oh God, take us back

[Pre-Chorus]
To an unswerving faith in the power of Your name
A heart beating for Your kingdom to reign
A church that is known for Your presence again
God take us back

[Chorus]
Nothing and no one comes close to You
Nothing could ever come close
Nothing and no one; it's You, and You only live
Nothing could ever come close

[Verse 2]
Keep our hearts real, keep Your grace close
You're bringing us back
You're bringing us home

[Pre-Chorus]
To an unswerving faith in the power of Your name
A heart beating for Your kingdom to reign

A church that is known for Your presence again
God take us back

[Chorus]
Nothing and no one comes close to You
Nothing could ever come close
Nothing and no one; it's You, and You only live
Nothing could ever come close

[Instrumental]

[Pre-Chorus]
To an unswerving faith in the power of Your name
A heart beating for Your kingdom to reign
A church that is known for Your presence again
God take us back

[Chorus]
Nothing and no one comes close to You
Nothing could ever come close
Nothing and no one; it's You, and You only live
Nothing could ever come close

Follow hard after God – you won’t be disappointed!
